ANC 2B Announces Election of Beverly Schwartz for 2B08

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2B is pleased to announce that Beverly Schwartz has been elected as the next commissioner for single member district 2B08. Beverly is filling the vacancy created by the resignation of former Commissioner Nicole McEntee. After the end of the public review period for the signatures Beverly submitted, the DC Board of Elections announced last week that Beverly will officially be a commissioner for ANC 2B. She was sworn-in by Councilmember Jack Evans earlier today.

Beverly is an “entrepreneurial” behavioral scientist and has made her career in the field of social change marketing. With a background in advertising and communications, she has an extensive career in marketing for the private, non-profit, and public sectors, and has worked on some of the world’s most challenging domestic and international issues to include HIV/AIDS; drug abuse; smoking prevention along with gender equity in education and environmental reform in developing countries. In partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, she recently led a four-year program seeking innovative solutions to youth unemployment in Africa.

Beverly is the author of “Rippling: How Social Entrepreneurs Spread Innovation Throughout the World,” which is now in five languages and has been honored by two book awards. All her work supports a vision of an “Everyone a Changemaker World,” advancing the skills of teamwork, leadership, empathy, and changemaking. She is an avid scuba diver and her most consistent traveling “companion” is her diving gear.

Beverly is a past Board of Trustee member for the National Hospice Association and is currently a Board Member of the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation and APOPO/HeroRats, an African based organization that uses African pouched rats to sniff out land mines. She is a member of the Dupont Circle Citizens Association and has been a Dupont Circle resident for the past 16 years.
