St. Thomas Project Proposal Update

The most recent version of the St. Thomas project (located at 18th and Church Streets) was presented on February 4 at the Zoning Preservation and Development Committee meeting.

The developer (CAS Riegler) is planning to submit the project for a Historic Preservation Review Board hearing in March. Tentative dates are as follows:

  • February 27, 2015 HPRB Application Filing Deadline
  • March 4, 2015 ANC Zoning Preservation and Development Committee
  • March 11, 2015 ANC meeting
  • March 16, 2015 HPRB Final Plans Submission
  • March 26, 2015 HPRB Meeting
  • April 2, 2015 HPRB Continuation Meeting (as needed)

UPDATED: Plans Available for St. Thomas Church Development (12-1-2014)

****UPDATED ON DECEMBER 9, 2014****

The ANC received notice today that the Historic Preservation Office has removed 1772 Church Street NW from the Historic Preservation Review Board agenda for December. As such, the Dupont Circle ANC will not vote on the project at its December 10th meeting.

The developers and Church will maintain their spot on the agenda and will present the most up to date plans (available below) and receive questions and comments from Commissioners and the public. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion and we hope that the extra time will allow neighbors adequate opportunity to provide constructive feedback to the ANC and the architects. There may be altered plans available for review, which will be posted on this website.

The ANC will announce new dates and times for additional public review of this proposal in the future.


 

At the ANC’s Zoning, Preservation and Development Committee on December 1st, architects for St. Thomas Church at 1772 Church Street NW supplied the committee modified plans as they will be presented to the ANC on December 10th and the Historic Preservation Review Board later this month.

The ANC encourages community members to submit constructive feedback to commissioners@dupontcircleanc.net. The ANC is particularly interested in comments on height, massing and concept of the proposed plans with the understanding that the design will be finalized over time and in conjunction with the neighbors and the ANC. The ANC would also appreciate feedback on whether neighbors think recent changes have met the requests of the ANC’s previous recommendations on the project, available here.

NEWS: Effects of the zoning re-write for ANC 2B

The November 2013 Special Meeting Agenda of #ANC2B will be primarily about the zoning re-write. The special meeting will be tonight–Monday, Nov. 25th–7pm-8pm, located at the Public Citizen’s Headquarters on 1600 20th Street NW. Commissioners and members of the ZPD committee were given access to a report created by ANC 2B’s public policy intern. The report compared existing and future zoning designations in the ANC. “Impact of Zoning Rewrite” is the brief report, “New Zoning Designations” is an Excel spreadsheet comparison of the qualities of previous and proposed zoning resolutions. The three images at the bottom of the post identify current zoning and can be matched with proposed zoning and current qualities in the Excel spreadsheet “New Zoning Designations.”
