FEBRUARY MONTHLY RECAP
At its regular monthly meeting on February 8, the Commission took the following actions:
- Considered multiple land use applications including the conversion of the Universal North building at 1825-75 Connecticut Avenue NW; ADA compliant adaptations for 1816-18 R Street NW; and a zoning exception to permit cat boarding at 1632 17th Street NW
- Discussed but tabled pending further consideration by, and consultation with, ANC 1C regarding a proposed map amendment to permit redevelopment and needed EMS/police/fire service upgrades at 1617 U/1620 V Street NW (three Commissioners joined ANC 1C colleagues at a site walkabout with DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson on Saturday, February 11)
- Heard from ANC 2C regarding the status of unhoused residents at McPherson Square pending the National Park Service’s (NPS) February 15 closing to encampments, and discussed multiple options for further engagement (four ANC 2B commissioners joined fellow commissioners from across the city to request a halt to the planned NPS eviction)
- Adopted a resolution in support of the Capital Pride Alliance’s public space application for Capital Pride 2023, including support for waiver of fees and additional facilitative steps (among immediate additional requirements are collection of signatures from 17th Street merchants and residents) – for more information visit the organization’s website
- Approved new Mobility and Land Use Committee members for the March 2023- February 2024 term

The Land Use Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 1; agenda will be circulated by Monday, February 27.
The Mobility Committee will meet on Tuesday, March 21; agenda will be distributed the week of March 13.
UPDATES OF INTEREST
We celebrated Groundhog Day with Dupont Festival on February 2. We also joined with colleagues from across the city to play TranspoBINGO, highlighting public transit opportunities and ongoing challenges.

Narcan training: ANC 2B is partnering with Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets to host Narcan training for the public in early March. Further details will be provided at the March ANC meeting.

AGENCY ITEMS OF INTEREST
The Department of Public Works will begin posted street sweeping on March 1, 2023. Every year between March and October sweepers operate along residential streets where signs are posted restricting parking during street sweeping hours. DPW will issue warnings from March 1, 2023 through March 10, 2023. After March 10, vehicles in violation of posted parking restrictions will be subject to a $45 fine.
The Department of Public Works has concluded leaf collection. Site specific pickup can be scheduled for leaves in brown paper bags. You may also drop off leaves at the Benning Road transfer station, 2300 Benning Road NE, between 10am and 2pm from Wednesday to Friday.
The Department of Buildings has released a new dashboard tracking various performance metrics and providing information on violations and abatements, as well as permit issuances and inspections.
