{"id":4463,"date":"2015-01-13T23:37:04","date_gmt":"2015-01-14T04:37:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dupontcircleanc.net\/wordpress\/?p=4463"},"modified":"2015-02-01T10:09:38","modified_gmt":"2015-02-01T15:09:38","slug":"news-dupont-circle-anc-publishes-draft-goals-for-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dupontcircleanc.net\/wordpress\/2015\/01\/13\/news-dupont-circle-anc-publishes-draft-goals-for-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS: Dupont Circle ANC Publishes Draft Goals for 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort to be more transparent, accountable and productive the Dupont Circle ANC presents for public comment a list of <strong>draft goals<\/strong> for calendar year 2015.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a brief discussion of the goals at the January 14<sup>th<\/sup> meeting and final goals will be adopted at the February 11<sup>th<\/sup> ANC meeting. The ANC will then establish committees and working groups comprised of members of the community to begin addressing those goals in a proactive manner and may consider holding several special meetings throughout the year to act on the work of those groups. The draft goals were developed by the 2015 Commissioners; we look forward to their enhancement through public comment.<\/p>\n<p>The ANC asks that you submit your feedback on these draft goals, including which should be addressed first or not at all and what goal statements may be missing, by <strong>February 5, 2015<\/strong>\u00a0(<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Deadline extended!<\/span>) by emailing <a href=\"mailto:commissioners@dupontcircleanc.net\">commissioners@dupontcircleanc.net<\/a>. The goals do not appear in any particular order.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Overarching Goals<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Address policy issues proactively and streamline reactionary approaches to regulatory applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhance engagement and involvement of residents, neighboring ANCs, neighborhood organizations, businesses and not-for-profit groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Specific Policy-related Goals<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recommend changes to neighborhood parking policies based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dupontcircleanc.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/June25-TPI_mtg-minutes.pdf\">issues identified in 2014<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Better understand the role of the ANC and community in impacting historic preservation in the neighborhood and use that knowledge to better influence preservation activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Address rat infestation together with residents, businesses, organizations, and the city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify and prioritize issues related to liquor-licensed establishments in ANC2B and recommend comprehensive approaches to address those issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage with and support schools located within ANC 2B as well as those that serve as part of the neighborhood feeder pattern.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the City in improving communications with residents and businesses during natural and man-made emergencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with area organizations to promote independent and diverse retail businesses that serve and enhance our neighborhood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Inventory ANC2B parks and explore opportunities to increase the number and utilization of public parks in the neighborhood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Significant Specific Issue Goals<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continue to represent the best interests of the neighborhood regarding development of land at St. Thomas Church.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide recommendations to the ABC Board on the West Dupont Liquor License Moratorium by April 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort to be more transparent, accountable and productive the Dupont Circle ANC presents for public comment a list of draft goals for calendar year 2015.
