DC Council’s Subcommittee on Redistricting Releases Proposed Ward Maps

On Monday, November 1st the DC Council’s Subcommittee on Redistricting, Chaired by Councilmember Elissa Silverman, released three “discussion” maps drawing possible new ward boundaries as part of the DC Council’s ongoing redistricting process resulting from the 2020 U.S. Census. The three “discussion” maps include notable changes for the northern part of ANC 2B:

  • Map One moves all of ANC 2B north of S Street between 18th Street and 14th Street NW to Ward 1.  
  • Map Two moves all of ANC 2B north of S Street between 16th Street and 14th Street NW to Ward 1.  
  • Map Three moves all of ANC 2B north of S Street between 15th Street to 14th Street NW to Ward 1.

The Subcommittee on Redistricting’s final citywide hearing on the proposed ward maps will take place this Friday, November 5th at 12:00 pm via Zoom and Facebook Live. More information regarding the hearing, including a link to sign up to testify, can be found here. Please note that the deadline to sign up to testify is this Wednesday, November 3rd at 5:00 pm. Anyone who has feedback regarding the proposed ward boundaries, especially as they relate to the above-stated changes in ANC 2B, is encouraged to testify.

Please note that the Subcommittee on Redistricting is currently focused on setting the ward boundaries as part of the redistricting process. Discussions regarding ANC and single member district (SMD) boundaries within each ward are expected to begin in early 2022.
