NEWS: Public Safety Meeting 3/10/2014 7pm

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2B and the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District will host a public safety meeting Monday night, March 10th at 7pm at the Embassy Row Hotel, 2015 Massachusetts Ave NW.

The meeting is in response to a series of violent crimes in the area south of Dupont Circle and other nightlife areas in DC. Residents and officials will be briefed on recent incidents and steps being taken to ensure public safety.

Representatives of the Metropolitan Police Department will take part, along with the Director of the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration. Other District officials will also be there.

The primary focus of the meeting will be public safety, but there will also be an update on steps being taken to enforce the District’s noise laws.

Free Financial Planning Day for Metro Washington Residents:Nov. 2

 

 

Washington, D.C. (Oct. 23, 2013) – We’ve all heard that there’s no free lunch, but in these challenging economic times, D.C. area residents will be able to get free financial planning advice and guidance from professional financial planners at the 4th annual Metro Washington Financial Planning Day Nov. 2 at the Columbia Heights Educational Campus.

 

The D.C. Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking is co-hosting this event with the Financial Planning Association of the National Capital Area and others to provide residents with free advice on budgeting, retirement planning, income taxes, investment strategies and more.

WHAT: The Metro Washington Financial Planning Day is an opportunity for residents to meet one-on-one with highly qualified Certified Financial Planner™ professionals and experts from the Financial Planning Association to address important financial issues including: getting out of debt, retirement planning, investment strategies, income taxes, insurance, mortgages and foreclosures and more. The event will also feature a series of classroom-style educational workshops addressing key personal finance topics including financial planning for women, real world retirement planning and how to be a smart investor.

WHO: The Metro Washington Financial Planning Day is a part of the national Financial Planning Days initiative, a ground-breaking program involving city governments and thousands of financial planners nationwide, in an effort to provide free financial education and programming to people nationwide. NEWS: DDOT seeking public comment on neighborhood block party approval process

DDOT Seeking Public Input on its Neighborhood Block Party Management Process

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Public Space Regulations Administration (PSRA) is hosting a public meeting on March 20 to allow members of the public to comment and ask questions about its management process for neighborhood block parties.

Representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department, Fire Department, Deputy Mayor’s Office for Public Safety and the PSRA team will be on hand listen to listen to the public and answer questions.

PSRA took over the public space permitting process for neighborhood block parties nearly a year ago and is aiming to improve the process by collaborating with the community and other government agencies.
