NEWS: New ANC 2B Boundaries Map

Gottlieb Simon from the Office of ANCs has generated new ANC maps based on redistricting after the 2010 census.  The external boundaries of ANC 2B have not changed, but there are some changes to the Single Member District boundaries.  We have inserted the new ANC 2B on our Map page under “About.”

These new boundaries will go into effect beginning January 1, 2013.  They are also in effect for the purposes of the November 2012 ANC elections.

NEWS: New Online Community Calendar

We’ve added a new “Calendar” to the ANC website.  It’s an open calendar where anyone can post events.  You do not need to subscribe or be approved.  The interface is very user-friendly, as well.  You can add descriptive text, map links, and even graphics to your event listing.

Our hope is that this new page will become the go-to public calendar for Dupont neighborhood events, meetings, hearings, and other items of interest — such as summer movie nights, Capital Pride, Taste of Dupont, community meetings, candidate forums, ANC meetings, meetings of other neighborhood groups, and more!

Just go to our website at http://www.dupontcircleanc.net and click on “Calendar.” [Choose “Calendar” on the above menu]

This is a very exciting development for our website, and we hope that this service will benefit the community.

NEWS: Our official ANC letters now available on our website!

We are pleased to announce that we have updated our Dupont Circle ANC website (www.dupontcircleanc.net) to list all our resolution letters month-by-month, going back to March 2010.  We will continue to post our resolution letters each month.  You can find all these resolution letters by going to “Documents” and then “Resolution Letters by Month,” or by using the following link: http://www.dupontcircleanc.net/documents/resolutions-letters/.

When the ANC passes a resolution on a matter — for example, supporting a liquor license application, raising a concern to the D.C. Council, or providing comment on proposed legislation — we share a letter incorporating the resolution with the relevant D.C. agency or other body.  The letter is signed by the Chairman with the line “ON BEHALF OF THE COMMISSION.”  The letter serves the official notice of our action to the relevant agency or body.  They are to give the resolution in the letter “great weight.”  In the past, these letters were mailed or sometimes faxed, but since around 2005 the ANC has shared almost all of its formal letters as e-mailed PDF files.

This new web page is part of our effort to make the ANC 2B website a comprehensive resource for the community, and also to promote open government.  Enjoy perusing our letters!

NEWS: Welcome to our new and improved ANC 2B website!

We are proud to launch our new and improved ANC 2B website!  Our Executive Director Freddie Blicher has been working extremely hard on this new site, so we are grateful for all his efforts, as always, and kudos go out to him for creating a simple and elegant interface.  Kudos also go out to friend of the neighborhood Tracie Ching, who donated her talents to create our new ANC 2B logo, which you can view at the top banner.

On our new ANC 2B website, you can…

  • Review our official ANC 2B resolution letters (currently going back to March 2010, but adding more every week);
  • Connect with our committees;
  • Read and receive a news feed with relevant news or blog postings;
  • Search all the Voluntary Agreements in our neighborhood
  • Comment on neighborhood news and blogs;
  • Review our annual reports to the DC Council (going back to 1976 – the first year of ANCs!);
  • Read old newsletters of ANC 2B;
  • See our financial information;
  • Take a look at fun neighborhood photos;
  • … and more!

This is in addition to the functions that we’ve carried over from our old website, including:

  • Find and contact your commissioner;
  • Download and read our public meeting agendas and minutes;
  • Review key documents, such as our policy & procedures manual and our by-laws;
  • Find links to useful neighborhood sites.

We hope you enjoy clicking around and learning more.

Our website is not intended to be static, and we want to be responsive to the community.  If you have any suggestions for the site, or any comments, please let us know.  You can use the “comment” function below or  contact us directly.

Sincerely,

Will Stephens, Chair
