Information on ANC 2B Hearings for 2016 Alcohol License Renewals

Hello neighbors,

As some of you might have seen from ANC 2B’s regular April meeting agenda that was sent out earlier this week, the ANC will begin considering a series of alcohol license renewals during next Wednesday’s meeting. According to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA), approximately 1,500 alcoholic beverage licenses from across the city are due to be renewed in 2016. This includes all restaurant, hotel, multipurpose facility, club, marine vessel, train, caterer, tavern, and nightclub licenses. Due to the fact that ANC 2B contains a large share of the city’s alcohol licenses, the ANC will set aside time during several upcoming regular meetings in order to consider the renewal of licenses.

The alcohol license renewal process is a critical time for the ANC to ensure that establishments are following the rules and being good neighbors. The process allows for the ANC to work with individual establishments to address any concerns from their neighbors. Community members are thus encouraged to attend the ANC’s meetings where renewals are being considered and to voice concerns about any individual establishments that are up for renewal.

I have created a list of the establishments whose license renewals will be considered during the ANC’s regular April meeting next week. The list can be found below:

ANC 2B License Renewals for April 2016 Meeting

Please note that the establishments included in the list are only the ones whose renewal hearing date in front of the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board has been set for before the ANC’s regular May meeting on May 11, 2016. There will be time set aside for community members to raise any concerns regarding the establishments included in the attached list during next Wednesday’s meeting.

As a reminder, the ANC’s regular April meeting will be next Wednesday, April 13th at 7:00 pm at the Brookings Institution, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue NW. A copy of the meeting agenda can be found here.

Additionally, more information on the 2016 alcohol license renewal process can be found here.

Please let your single member district commissioner or I know if you have any questions about this matter. We look forward to seeing you next week!

Sincerely,

Peter Sacco
