Hello neighbors,
ANC 2B would like to provide an update regarding the status of the ANCâs protest of the liquor license application for Dacha Beer Garden at 1740 14th Street NW. At the ANCâs regular June meeting on June 14th, the ANC voted to protest Dacha Beer Gardenâs license application based on the negative impact that the establishment would have on nearby residences. While the establishment is located in ANC 2F, along the ANCâs border with ANC 2B, our ANC was able to protest the application because the establishment would be located within 600 feet of our ANC.
Unfortunately, due to an administrative error on the ANCâs part, the ANC was unable to submit the protest resolution by the filing deadline for the application, which was Monday, June 19th. Thus, the ANC will not be able to be recognized by the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board as a protestant for the application.
The ANC would like to assure neighbors that the ANC will continue to be involved in the protest process as the application continues to be considered by the ABC Board. Based on representations from the applicantâs legal counsel, the ANC will work alongside our colleagues on ANCs 1B and 2F, which have both filed protests of Dacha Beer Gardenâs application, to represent the interests of our constituents throughout the protest process, including in a potential mediation process. Additionally, the ANC has submitted a resolution to the ABC Board in support of ANC 2Fâs protest, a copy of which can be found here.
We sincerely apologize for this error. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please reach out to Commissioner Scott Davies, who will continue to represent ANC 2B throughout the protest process for Dacha Beer Gardenâs application.
Sincerely,
Peter Sacco
Executive Director

Hello neighbors,
As some of you might have seen from ANC 2Bâs regular April meeting agenda that was sent out earlier this week, the ANC will begin considering a series of alcohol license renewals during next Wednesdayâs meeting. According to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA), approximately 1,500 alcoholic beverage licenses from across the city are due to be renewed in 2016. This includes all restaurant, hotel, multipurpose facility, club, marine vessel, train, caterer, tavern, and nightclub licenses. Due to the fact that ANC 2B contains a large share of the cityâs alcohol licenses, the ANC will set aside time during several upcoming regular meetings in order to consider the renewal of licenses.
The alcohol license renewal process is a critical time for the ANC to ensure that establishments are following the rules and being good neighbors. The process allows for the ANC to work with individual establishments to address any concerns from their neighbors. Community members are thus encouraged to attend the ANCâs meetings where renewals are being considered and to voice concerns about any individual establishments that are up for renewal.
I have created a list of the establishments whose license renewals will be considered during the ANCâs regular April meeting next week. The list can be found below:
ANC 2B License Renewals for April 2016 Meeting
Please note that the establishments included in the list are only the ones whose renewal hearing date in front of the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board has been set for before the ANCâs regular May meeting on May 11, 2016. There will be time set aside for community members to raise any concerns regarding the establishments included in the attached list during next Wednesdayâs meeting.
As a reminder, the ANCâs regular April meeting will be next Wednesday, April 13th at 7:00 pm at the Brookings Institution, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue NW. A copy of the meeting agenda can be found here.
Additionally, more information on the 2016 alcohol license renewal process can be found here.
Please let your single member district commissioner or I know if you have any questions about this matter. We look forward to seeing you next week!
Sincerely,
Peter Sacco
